A clear starting point for learning IT, networking, and cybersecurity
Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) training is designed for people who are at the beginning of their journey into IT and related fields. It provides a structured, accessible way to understand how modern technology environments work, without assuming prior technical knowledge.
CCST courses focus on building practical understanding first. Rather than starting with tools or commands, they explain how systems fit together, why common problems occur, and how professionals think about diagnosing and managing them.
If you’re new to IT, changing direction, or looking for a recognised starting point that doesn’t feel overwhelming, CCST offers a clear and supported place to begin.
How CCST training works
CCST courses are built on Cisco Networking Academy materials, which provide a recognised framework and progression path. These materials form the backbone of each course, giving structure and continuity across the learning journey.
At Cyber Rebels, CCST training is delivered with live, instructor-led support. Concepts are explained in plain English, linked to real-world situations, and revisited as needed so understanding can settle properly. The emphasis throughout is on learning why things work the way they do, not just memorising information.
This approach helps learners build confidence as well as knowledge, making it easier to decide where to go next once the foundations are in place.
Because CCST courses are designed as entry points, the pace is deliberate. Topics are introduced in a logical order and revisited as new ideas are added, rather than being treated as one-off lessons. This helps learners build a mental model of how IT, networking, and cybersecurity concepts connect, instead of holding isolated bits of information that don’t quite join up.
Learning is also supported over time, not rushed to reach an endpoint. Questions are encouraged, uncertainty is expected, and nothing is treated as something you “should already know”. The aim is to help concepts make sense and stay useful, so when learners move on to further training, work, or study, they’re building on understanding rather than trying to fill gaps later.
The three CCST pathways
CCST is offered across three focused routes, each designed to suit different starting points and interests. You don’t need to choose a “final destination” — these paths are designed to connect and complement one another.
CCST IT Support
A broad introduction to IT environments and support work. Ideal if you’re interested in general IT roles, problem-solving, or supporting users and systems day to day.
CCST Networking
Focuses on how devices communicate and how networks are structured. Suited to learners who want to understand connectivity, infrastructure, and how systems link together.
CCST Cybersecurity
Introduces how cyber attacks work, why they succeed, and how organisations think about managing risk. A good fit if you’re curious about security, threats, and digital protection.
Each pathway has its own dedicated page with full details about what the course looks like in practice and who it’s best suited to.
What happens next
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start. Many learners choose a CCST pathway based on what feels most relevant right now, knowing they can build on it later.
If you’re unsure which route makes the most sense, you’re welcome to talk it through. We’re happy to help you choose a starting point based on where you are and what you’re curious about, rather than pushing you toward a particular outcome.
CCST is designed to give you clarity first — and from there, progression becomes a lot easier to navigate.
